The SIG is aimed to be a forum for information exchange and a way to coordinate issues of interest for remote sensing of forest resources and forest ecosystems in Europe. Science issues of interest for forest resource assessments will be addressed in workshops and in other ways like for example joint research projects.
Please communicate your ideas to the chairman or co-chair about other issues that should be targeted in future workshops. We would also like to help formulating the forestry relevant aspects of future scientific and operational remote sensing systems. For example, we would like to be active in specifying the requirements for data continuity after the present Landsat and SPOT systems, especially since these satellites are used operationally by some forest authorities in Europe.
